Abstract

864,267. Fluid-pressure brakes. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO. Ltd. July 8, 1959 [April 10, 1958], No. 11444/58. Class 103 (1). A liquid braking system for a vehicle, comprises a pedal-operated master cylinder 10 having a piston 13 displaceable by pressure created in the master cylinder or mechanically by a piston 11, to operate a valve 17 controlling servomotor 18 and master cylinder 20, and two groups of brakes 15, 21, the group 15 being operable by pressure in master cylinder 10 and group 21 by servomotor 18 and master cylinder 20. The servomotor 18 is supplied with compressed air on opening of valve 17 from reservoirs 25, 26 and pump 24; according to the Provisional Specification the servomotor may be vacuum-operated. Movement of piston 13 is limited by a stop to be sufficient for the opening of valve 17 only.
