Abstract
864,091. Sun visors for vehicles. SOC. COMMERCIALE DU COMPTOIR DES INVENTIONS PRATIQUES POUR L'AUTOMOBILE C.I.P.A. July 1, 1959 [July 28, 1958; Jan. 2, 1959], No. 22639/59. Class 103(2). A shock-absorbing vehicle sun visor comprises a thermoplastic closed cushion filled with air at atmospheric pressure, provided with internal ribs 2, 2<SP>1</SP> Fig. 2, on the side walls 1, 1<SP>1</SP> which ribs form hollows 3, Fig. 1, in the external surfaces of the walls. The upper edge 6 is thicker than the lower and provided with a hole 4, serving as a sheath for a visor support rod, and a blow-hole 5. The visor is formed by blowing a heated tube of the thermoplastic into a cooled mould, the tube being of unequal thickness so that the thicker portion forms the upper edge of the visor. In the modification shown in Figs. 10 and 11, the visor is formed from a single piece bent along a line 25, 25 and having its reinforced edges 26, 27, 28 welded together. The.sides are formed with grooves 29. The visor may be formed from a bag the beaded top edges of which are clamped by a clip housing the visor support rod. If desired the visor may be made from two parts connected together along four edges. A mirror may be mounted in a side wall.
