863,540. Coin-freed vending apparatus. DARIOMATIC Inc. Oct. 20, 1959, No. 35439/59. Class 27 A vending machine has tiers of inclined storage shelves 12 for rows of containers C in side-by-side relationship and a conveyer belt 15 at the lower end of each shelf holds one row of containers and is moved in step in response to the insertion of coins to deliver containers one by one. When the belt has been emptied of containers, the structure 28 carrying the belt is pivoted downwards by a solenoid 35 and a ledge 32 holding up the next row of containers is lowered so that this row can move on to the belt. The surface of the shelf is constituted by rollers 26 and a roller 40 having spring-loaded stub shafts at each end can be fitted in one of several pairs of holes 44 to engage the top of a row of containers according to their height and prevent them tipping during storage or during movement towards the belt. If one container in a row fails to advance freely under gravity, the rollers will advance it as they are turned by the other containers.
