863,360. Flexible pipes. B.T.R. INDUSTRIES Ltd., and BEAZLEY, T. A. June 20, 1957 [June 20,1956; Aug. 20, 1956], Nos. 19145/56 and 25404/56. Class 99(2). Lengthening of a flexible pipe 10 is resisted by a cable 14 secured to coupling-means 13 at the ends of the pipe and maintained in position along the axis of the pipe by spiders 16 with radial arms arranged along the cable. The spiders 16 are spaced apart by sleeves 17 and a screwed member 19 at the end of the cable 14 is threaded into a bridge piece 20 seated in a recess 21 in an attachment member 13 at the end of the pipe. The pipe may have helical or circumferential corrugations and may be formed of strip material wrapped helically with interlocking sealing engagement of the abutting edges of the strip. Alternatively the pipe may be of elastic material and may be reinforced by wire or cotton braiding or a spiral unitary of wire.
