862,517. Bottling. HOLSTEIN& KAPPERT MASCHINENFABRIK PHONIX G.m.b.H., and KAISER, B. March 9, 1959 [March 17, 1958], No. 7989/59. Class 125(2). A carbonated beverage e.g. beer is drawn through a filter 1 by a pump 3 which forces the beer through a heat exchanger 2 to bring it to pasteurization temperature before being supplied to a back pressure filler 5 to fill bottles emerging from a washing machine 7. The bottles are sealed by the machine 8 and cooled at 9 before being labelled at 4. The pump 3 is such that it delivers a substantially constant pressure of liquid to the heat exchanger regardless of the output therefrom and the exchanger operates at only a slightly higher temperature than the heated beverage. With this arrangement it is stated that if the liquid flow from the heat exchanger is interrupted then the beverage therein is unaffected since pressure and temperature remain substantially the same.
