Abstract

A resin-drug complex is produced by reacting a morphine type drug with polystyrene crosslinked with divinyl benzene and containing sulphonic acid groups or with polymethacrylic acid cross-linked with divinyl benzene. The morphine type drugs intended are the naturally occurring alkaloids containing a phenanthrene ring and also methadone and pethidine (which exhibit morphine-like activity), and specified are codeine, dihydrocodeinone, morphine, dihydromorphinone, ethyl morphine, normorphine, diacetylmorphine, methyl dihydromorphinone and levorphanol.
