Abstract

861,982. Valves. ATLAS COPCO A.B. March 2, 1959 [March 10, 1958], No. 7158/59. Class 135. A valve assembly comprises a plurality of independently actuated rotary cylindrical valves arranged in a stack. The valve casings 1, 2, 3, 4, Fig. 1, are held together by a cover 7 and bolts 9 which extend through lugs 8 in the casing 4. Sealing rings 16 are located between the adjacent faces of the valve members 12, 13, 14, 15, between the valve member 12 and the cover 7 and between the valve member 15 and the plug 19. The valve assembly may be used in a rock drill carriage in which case compressed air is supplied to the plug 19 and distributed via valves 4, 3, 2 respectively to the percussion motor of the drill, the feeding device of the drill and the means for controlling the drill guide. The closure members 15, 14, 13 are all of the type having a central axial bore connected to the inlet, the valve 4 having one radial outlet ; the valves 3 and 2 having two working ports 32, 33, Fig. 4, and an exhaust port 37. The valve 1 controls the supply of flushing water to the rock drill and the closure member has a transverse passage 38, Fig. 3, which in one position of the closure member interconnects two passages extending substantially tangentially to the closure member. A bore 23, Fig. 1, in the valve member 12 allows the compressed air to pass to a balancing chamber 24. The periphery of each closure member 12, 13, 14, 15 has a toothed or serrated portion, which is engaged by a spring-loaded detent. The operating handle 26 of each valve extends radially from the closure member.
