A helicopter freight compartment has a front opening below the pilots' seat, and a rear opening aligned with the front opening, at least one opening having closable flaps or doors. In the example shown, the front opening has part clam shell doors 2, and the rear opening a flap 3. An extra long load can thus be accommodated, while meeting centre of gravity requirements.
