861,072. Tractors. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Nov. 30, 1959 (Sept. 23, 1958], No. 30407/58. Class 79(1). [Also in Group XXXII] A safety device for a tractor 10 comprises a rigid superstructure 11 provided with projecting spikes 17 which will dig into the ground should the tractor overturn. The superstructure comprises a rectangular frame 16 carried by pairs of supports 12, 14 secured to a cross member 13 and the rear axle casing, respectively. Back plates 18 restrict penetration of the spikes. The rear spikes may be arranged diagonally instead of transversely as shown or further spikes may be provided which project rearwardly for use in the event of the tractor overturning backwards when towing a load.
