Abstract
860,687. Inductor alternators. PENSABENE, N. Oct. 13, 1958 [Oct. 11, 1957], No. 31836/57. Class 35. In order that the pitch of the inductor teeth of an inductor alternator may be made equal to the pitch of the winding slots instead of double this pitch to span a complete coil pitch as is usual, the coils are wound with their alternate sides taken through slots at either end (instead of the same end) of the stator stack in toroidal fashion. In the radial form shown, the stator winding W is wound in staggered slots S1, S2 at either end of a cylindrical stack B. Inductor teeth P1, P2 of the rotor 5 are excited by fixed coil C, and as can be seen in Fig. 2 are of equal pitch with the stator slots. Magnetization of the stator core by its toroidal winding is prevented by using an even number of groups of stator slots which are alternately displaced half a tooth pitch so that the current in alternate groups flows in the reverse sense. The armature slots may be bridged by a plate. A cylindrical type of machine, otherwise identical, is described.
