Abstract

860,418. Wall and like brackets. LIBBEYOWENS-FORD GLASS CO. June 2, 1959 [June 9, 1958], No. 18724/59. Class 52(5). [Also in Group XXXII] Relates to a bracket for securing a rear view mirror to the interior surface of a vehicle windshield (see Group XXXII). The mirror is carried by a metal mounting member 24, Fig. 4, detachably securable to a glass base member 23 secured by an adhesive bonding layer 28 e.g., a resin, to the windshield 21. The member 23 may be made of metal and is trapezoidal in shape, the non- parallel sides 29 being inclined towards the windshield and being engageable by corresponding surfaces 38 in the mounting member 24. The members 23, 24 may be secured together by a thermoplastic adhesive. In another embodiment the edges 29 may be grooved to receive ridges on the surfaces 38. Also the face of the base member adjacent the windshield may be crowned when the windshield is curved. In a still further embodiment the mounting member is g channel shape with lugs on one of the sides of the channel which engage in recesses in the top face of a rectangular base member. The other channel side is apertured to receive a screw to engage a hole in the lower face of the base member.
