Abstract

A composition for promoting the yield from rubber trees and/or stimulating bark renewal comprises a solution of 2 : 4-dichlorophenoxy acetic acid, 2-methyl-4-chlorophenoxy acetic acid, phenoxy acetic acid, alpha naphthalene acetic acid, or b -naphthoxy acetic acid, or a salt, ester, or amide thereof, which solution is distributed throughout a liquid medium whose viscosity at normal temperatures of use is such that the composition can be painted on a tree. The composition contains preferably between 0.1% to 5% by weight of the acid constituent and the sulphur in the composition according to the parent Specification is omitted. The solvent is suitably an aliphatic alcohol which is liquid at normal temperatures, e.g. methanol, ethanol, iso-butyl alcohol, and the liquid medium is vegetable oil or oils, e.g. palm oil and/or coconut oil, or a purified mineral oil of the paraffin series. The concentration of the acid in the composition is preferably between 0.1 and 5% by weight and a disinfectant, e.g. creosote oil, may be included in the composition if desired.ALSO:A composition for promoting the yield from rubber trees and/or stimulating renewal comprises a solution of 2 : 4-dichlorophenoxy acetic acid, phenoxy acetic acid, 2-methyl-4 chlorophenoxy acetic acid, alpha-naphthalene acetic acid or beta-naphthoxy acetic acid or a salt, ester, or amide thereof, which solution is distributed throughout a liquid medium whose viscosity at normal temperatures of use is such that the composition can be painted on a tree. The composition contains preferably between 0,1% and 5% by weight of the acid constituent and the sulphur in the composition according to the parent Specification is omitted. The solvent for the acid constituent is suitably an aliphatic alcohol which is liquid at ordinary temperatures, e.g. methanol, ethanol or isobutyl alcohol, and the liquid is a vegetable oil or oils, e.g. palm oil and/or coconut oil, or a purified mineral oil of the paraffin series. A disinfectant, e.g. creosote oil, may be included in the composition.
