858,881. Insulating glass sheet structures. BAYER, F. X. Jan. 7, 1959, No. 575/59. Class 20(3) An insulating glass sheet structure comprises two or more spaced sheets 1, 2 (may be, with ornamented faces of the sheets directed towards the interior of the structure) connected together round the periphery thereof in an airtight manner by means of a synthetic plastic, e.g. P.V.C., profiled member G preferably in one length with a part 3 extending between the sheets at the edges thereof and determining the spacing of the sheets and a plastic sealing member 4, 5 between the part 3 and an adjacent surface of each of the glass sheets. The part 3 itself preferably has a T-shaped cross-section to form between it the glass sheet, on each side thereof a recess for receiving the plastic sealing members 4, 5, which have resilient properties. The part 3 is hollow having bores 9 by which the inner space 8 communicates with the space between sheets 1 and 2 and the space 8 holds a hygroscopic medium. The arms 12 of the profiled member embrace the edge portions of the sheets 1, 2 and by the use of heat and pressure and may be with layers of adhesive 6, 7, seal the contacting surfaces and also the surfaces between the sealing bands 4, 5 and their contacting surfaces of the sheets 1, 2. The side parts 12 of the profiled member G are welded to the central part 3.
