Abstract

858,763. Elastic-fluid turbines. NAPIER & SON Ltd., D. July 28, 1958 [June 14, 1957], No. 18900/57.. Class 110 (3). In a rotor for a multi-stage axial flow turbine or, as shown, compressor the rotor blades 30 are mounted in circumferentially-spaced grooves 28 formed in the rims of discs 25 which resist the centrifugal forces, the axial dimension of the roots of the blades being different from, in this case less than, that of the part of the rims between the grooves, to provide circumferentially spaced projections 31, 32 which enter notches 37, 36 in annular driving members 35 between the successive discs. Annular locating and sealing members 38 are fitted between adjacent discs, their upstream and downstream edges extending beneath the platform portions of the blades carried by these discs. In a modi. fication the axial dimension of the blades is greater than that of the rims and thereby provides the projections for engaging the driving members.
