858,568. Mechanical lantern slides. TECHNICAL ANIMATIONS Inc. Dec. 18, 1958 [Feb. 5, 1958], No. 40943/58. Drawings to Specification. Class 98(2) [Also in Group XV] A three-dimensional mechanical transparency designed to demonstrate the structure and operation of a mechanical device, e.g. a pistol or the tracks of a tank, comprises a base member formed with a transparent area; two or more transparent members mounted on said base to intercept light beams passing through the transparent area, some transparent members simulating the plan-view shapes of different components of the device and some transparent members acting in combination to simulate the plan-view shapes of other components of the device, most of said transparent members being flattened in the direction of the light beams so that a sharp image of the entire transparency may be projected on a screen, the members being movable to operate in the same relationship as their counterparts in the mechanical device, each member being coloured so that the part it simulates may be readily identified; and actuating members in contact with certain of the transparent members and adapted to cause them to move as do their counterparts in the mechanical device.
