857,996. Developing reels. BOCKEMUHL. J. Aug. 27, 1959 [Aug. 27, 1958], No. 29355/59. Class 98(2) A photographic developing reel having spirally-grooved flanges spaced apart by a central hub has one flange slightly rotatable with respect to the other, and, in one flange at least, radially-extending apertures 6 (Fig. 1) bridged by the groove walls 7 the latter being reduced in depth from their outer margins as at 8, 10 so that the film edge projects through to enable slight frictional contact with the operators finger to facilitate the feed-in on rotation of the flange. The finger-pressure is released on the back turn, and reverse feeding is also inhibited by suitable projections at the entrance to the spiral channel, or by a tooth in the spiral groove of one flange, to engage the film perforations.
