Abstract

857,726. Ignition generators. HALDEX A.B. July 9, 1958 [July 9, 1957], No. 21998/58. Classes 35 and 38 (4). In an automotive vehicle lighting and ignition A.C. generator and load circuit comprising a four-pole magnetic rotor 1, Fig. 1, and a stator having two coil-carrying magnetic cores 6, 7 so disposed that they bridge simultaneously a respective pair of adjacent rotor polepieces N 1 , S 1 , N 2 , S 2 , together with a further coil-carrying core 10 disposed between and magnetically connected to a pair of adjacent ends of the cores 6, 7, the coils 11, 12, and 15, of the cores 6, 7 and 10, are respectively connectable to a lighting and an ignition circuit, and in order to obtain current in the coil 15 the two coils 11, 12 are permanently loaded either with the lighting circuit or, when the latter is disconnected, with a compensating load which is within the range of loads formed by the lighting circuit. In the flywheel magneto shown having the rotor polepieces magnetized by permanent magnets 2, 3, 4, 5, the coils 11, 12 are connected mutually in parallel and between ground and a conductor 14 connectable via a switch 26, Fig. 2, to either the headlight 29 and tail-lights 30, or a compensating resistance 25. The coil 15 is connected to a cam-actuated contact-breaker 20, and through a D.C. discharge impulse device 16 and an H.T. transformer 17 to a spark-plug 19.
