Abstract
856,985. Refrigerating. LICENCIA TALALMANYOKAT ERTEKESITO VALLALAT. July 15, 1958 [Dec. 16, 1957], No. 22641/58. Class 29 [Also in Group XXXV] In a system for the water cooling of the gaseous cooling medium of a turbo-alternator similar to that described in Specification 856,061, emergency artificial cooling is automatically introduced by a controlling device 1 when the generator coolant temperature 2 is inappropriate to the load indicated by a governor 4 or by a power output meter on the generator. In normal operation, fresh cooling water 25 passes through a heat-exchanger 9 and through the hot end 12 of the generator cooler 11, to waste, while condensate water is circulated by pump 13 from evaporator 18 to the cool end 15 of the generator cooler, any heat gained being removed in the exchanger 9 before the water is returned to the bottom of the evaporator at 16. If the cooling gas temperature becomes excessive for the load due to inadequate fresh cooling water, the device 1 operates valves 6, 7 to put the heat-exchanger 9 out of action by means of a shunt 10. and to divert the returning condensate to sprays 17 to increase the cooling rate. Simultaneously valves 19 pass steam bled from the turbine 3 to ejectors 20 so that steam produced in the evaporator is forced into the condenser 27 of the plant.
