Abstract

856,964. Cotter-pins. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. (Ford Motor Co.). July 28, 1959, No. 25830/59. Class 89(2). A cotter-pin comprises a hollow body 20 of partcircular cross-section with a lateral hole 22 adjacent one end, and a springy retaining member 21 having one end 23 bent to protrude through the hole 22 and the other end extending out of the other end of the body and bent into a loop 25 with a part 26 resiliently pressing on the body adjacent said other end, and a finger 27 engaging another lateral hole 24 in the body. The pin is retained in a hole 19 in a shaft 15 between the end 23 and the finger 27. To release the pin for withdrawal the loop 25 is pressed laterally to retract the end 23 into the hole 22.
