856,753. Radio receiving apparatus. FABBRICA APPARECCHI RADIO E TELEVISIONE. July 16, 1957 [July 19, 1956, May 28, 1957], No. 22501/57. Class 40(5). [Also in Group XXXV] A portable radic receiver 20 operable from batteries contained withir the receiver casing is also operable from an external source of power such as the battery in a motor car. the external power supply being connected to a base member 2 to which the receiver may be connected by contacts 6, 7-8, 9 which fit into corresponding aperture in the receiver, the connections to the internal power supply being simultaneously broken. The base member 2 which is provided with a spring-loaded insulating cover which protects the contacts when the receiver is not mounted thereon is connected by cable 23 to the car battery and is attached to the dash-board of the car by means of brackets 24. The receiver preferably employs transistors so that it can operate directly from a low-voltage battery. The base 2 may also connect the output of the receiver to an additional loudspeaker in which case it may also disconnect the internal loudspeaker in the receiver. A further stage of amplification may be associated with the additional loudspeaker as described in Specification 855,966.
