In a portable public address equipment a loudspeaker 5, a transistor amplifier 15 for actuating the loud-speaker and a battery pack 16 for energizing the amplifier are all included in a single casing 1 which has a socket 25 mating with a plug 27 on a flexible lead 28 leading to a microphone 29, the casing 1 being flared out to form a horn 4 for the loud-speaker 5. A second socket 26 wired in parallel with socket 25 may be connected to a second similar equipment so that the microphone 29 may drive both equipments. A volume control 14 adjustable by screw 14a is mounted on the cups 9, 10 attached to the cap 6 of the re-entrant loud-speaker 5.
