Abstract

856,541. Garden forks. JENKS & CATTELL Ltd., A. E., and WOOD, G. W. Sept. 23, 1959 [Oct. 4, 1958], No. 31731/58. Class 6(2). A tined hand tool, such as a garden fork, comprises two U-shaped pieces 10 spaced apart by a bridge piece 12 formed with a spigot 18. The spigot has two splines 19 which fit into slots 20 at the base of a socket 13 for the handle of the tool. The members 10, 12 and 13 are all of metal, and after assembly are welded together, are heat treated to relieve stresses, and tempered to the requisite hardness. The handle, which may be wooden, is riveted to the socket 13 at 21.
