Class 52(2) The lower ends 4, 5 of the head and foot frames of a bed are telescopically adjustable by centrally arranged screw and nut means 6, 7 having level gears enclosed in casings 10 and operable independently or in unison by a common shaft 12 and crank 11. Preferably the shaft is displaceable longitudinally by a lever 22 to engage squared parts thereon with squared axial bores in the bevel pinions.
