[Also in Group XXXIV] A pneumatic tyre bead breaker tool (see Group XXXIV), which may be used as a jack, comprises a piston 13 hydraulically displaceable in a cylinder 2 which is secured at one end to a fluid tank 1 having a handle 22 at its upper end and housing an hydraulic pump the plunger 7 of which has a rack extension 6 engaged by a quadrant gear 5 operable by a hand lever 4 journalled in the tank walls. Fig. 4 shows a form of the tool wherein the non-return valve controlling fluid entry to the pressure chamber 12 comprises a polyurethane packing 39, and pressure release is effected by a valve 42 operated by a push button 43. The tank I has a window 51 and an air release valve 53. In this embodiment a claw 14 which is normally carried on the piston 13 is secured by a circlip 46 which permits replacement of the claw by a foot plate 47, Fig. 5, so that the tool may be used as a lifting jack, the cylinder 2 having a lifting bracket 48 clamped thereto. To avoid over-extension of the piston 13 when used as a jack, a fluid outlet 49 is provided in the cylinder 2 and/or coloured indicating bands are provided on the piston. The tool, may have a coupling communicating with the pressure chamber 12 for attachment of a flexible pressure tubing 57, Fig. 6, leading to an hydraulic panel beating press 58, 59, the piston 13 and cylinder 2 being locked together by stirrup 60 hooked over the cylinder lug 16 and having a sole plate 61 to take the reaction of the piston claw 14, or the tool having a change-over cock which diverts the hydraulic fluid from the pressure chamber 12 to the coupling.
