Abstract
854,072. Lens mounts; iris diaphragms. RANK CINTEL Ltd. June 11, 1957 [June 11, 1956], No. 17946/56. Class 97(1) In optical apparatus having a lens of which the position within a hermetically sealed container is required to be adjustable, the container comprises two parts movable relatively to each other without breaking the seal to effect the required lens movement. The lens mounting shown comprises tubes 1, 2 interconnected with a flanged tube 3 by screws passing through arcuate slots in the flanges of tube 3. Deformable rings 8, 9 ensure hermetic sealing. Slidable within the bore of tubes 1, 2 is a carrier 12 for a lens 13 and iris diaphragm. A stud protruding from carrier 12 engages a helical slot 17 in tube 1 and a longitudinal slot 18 in tube 3 so that, by slackening off the screws, rotation of tube 1 relative to tube 3 will cause axial movement of lens 13, without breaking the seal afforded by ring 8. Also, the adjusting lever 15 of iris diaphragm engages a longitudinal slot 19 in tube 2, so that adjustment of the diaphragm can be effected by rotating tube 2 relative to tube 3.
