Abstract
853,767. Injection moulding dental plates. HINTERMANN, M. Aug. 7, 1957 [Aug. 13, 1956], No. 24839/57. Class 87(2). In moulding apparatus comprising a sleeve 25 for pre-heating a cartridge 36 of moulding material, the exit end 41 of the cartridge 36 is caused to abut directly against the entry 43 to the mould 12 without any intervening nozzle &c. so that the cartridge can burst, under injection pressure, directly into the mould. The sleeve 25 is surrounded by an electric element 26, an insulating jacket 27 and an outer jacket 28, all movable along a rail 22. In operation, the element 26 is energized and when a desired temperature is reached, a heat-sensitive switch 31 closes, an indicator lamp 29 shines and the cartridge 36 is inserted into the sleeve 25. After a set heating period a clock 32 gives an audible signal and a lever 23 is rotated to bring the cartridge 36 into contact with the mould 12. A three-way cock 17 is then operated to apply hydraulic or pneumatic pressure to a device 16 to push a piston 19 into the sleeve 25 to compress the cartridge 36, Fig. 6 (not shown), The end face 41 of the container may comprise a thin membrane, and the rear end face and its edge are preferably made stronger than the cylindrical wall. The piston 19 may be of low heat conductivity synthetic material. The mould 12 is held between side plates, Fig. 2 (not shown), one of which is movable by a spindle.
