Class 112 [Also in Group XXV] In a rotary hook a removable ring which retains the bobbin case holder in position is connected to the rotary body of the hook by a locking , element which can be rotated about an axis co-axial with that of said body for locking or releasing said ring. The bobbin case holder 8 of a rotary hook is journalled in a raceway provided by a circular shoulder 5 at the upper edge of the rotary body 1 and a removable ring 6 which rests on said upper edge. Pins 10, 11 depending from ring 6 pass through grooves 12, 13 in body 1, and are formed at their lower ends with notches 14, 15. A rotatable ring 19, mounted co-axially with body 1, is biased against the lower face of the latter by a spring ring 23. A spring plate 18, fixed to ring 19, is formed with peripheral blades 16, 17 adapted to engage the notches 14, 15, when ring 19 is rotated in the direction of arrow a, to lock ring 6 in position. Blades 16, 17 are bent out of the plane of ring 18, whereby ring 6 is pressed resiliently against body 1 and can thus yield if dirt or thread is trapped therebetween. The loop-taking beak may be provided either on body 1 or on ring 6.
