Abstract
853,085. Electric motors. LANDIS & GYR A.G. Dec. 3, 1958 [Dec. 10, 1957], No. 39009/58. Class 35. An electromagnetic rotary step-by-step drive includes two annular permanent magnet stators 13, 15 each having induced poles of alternating polarity over its entire face, the poles being separated by lines 16 which are tangential to a circle 17 concentric with a spindle 4 through their centres, the poles on one magnet being angularly displaced to a small extent relative to those on the other. Rotating coaxially with and between the permanent magnets is a soft iron rotor 1 having radially extending trapezoidal teeth 2. The rotor is attached to magnetic bush 3 on spindle 4 mounted in non- magnetic bearings 5 and 6. Bearing 5 in support 7 and bearing 6 in magnetic sleeve 9 connected to magnetic annular part 14 are mounted respectively in magnetic housing parts 8, 10. When coil 12 is energized the magnetized rotor moves so that its trapezoidal teeth coincide angularly with parts on stator 13 of opposite polarity and when the coil is de-energized the rotor moves a little further. It moves another step in the same direction when coil 12 is reversely impulsed. In one modification permanent magnet 15 is omitted. In a second modification the two stators have axially projecting teeth and the rotor is the permanent magnet. Such stators and rotor may be arranged inside the cylindrical energizing coil 12.
