Abstract

852,797. Magnetic amplifiers. WESTING- HOUSE ELECTRIC CORPORATION. Oct. 30, 1958 [Nov. 5, 1957], No. 34821/58. Class 40 (9). Discharge of a capator 21 in the input circuit of a half-wave resetting magnetic amplifier 40 blocks the amplifier for a predetermined time after which it causes the cross-connected pair of resetting amplifiers 60 and 80 to change from one state to the other. The amplifiers are provided with half-wave negative D.C. energization of phases 0 and #), as illustrated, the phases being 180 degrees apart. An input signal charging capacitor 21 in a # negative half-cycle blocks output from amplifier 40 and permits an input in a 0 halfcycle over terminal 120 to reset amplifier 60 which when once reset is held reset by the repetitive output of amplifier 80. Output at a terminal 110 is half-wave of phase #. When the input signal is disconnected from capacitor 21 its potential falls in a predetermined time until the reset circuit to amplifier 40 is cut off and its resultant output disconnects the reset circuit of amplifier 60, causing reset of amplifier 80 and consequent reversal of output at terminal 110 from # phase to # phase. The input circuit resistor 22 may be variable to alter the delay between removal of input signal and phase reversal at terminal 110.
