Abstract
852,242. Photo-electric control of photographic printing. AGFA A. G. Feb. 5, 1957 [Feb. 10, 1956], No. 3966/57. Class 40(3). [Also in Group XX] In photographic printing apparatus providing, in addition to the printing light, an adjustable quantity of light for the purpose of reducing contrast in the print, the gradation characteristic and or sensitivity of the printing material are accounted for by additional adjustment of the intensity or duration of the additional light. As shown, lamp 13 for providing the additional light is in circuit with a switch 43 actuated by the relay 44 of an electronic time switch 45, the setting of which is adjusted by alteration of a tapping point 46 on a resistance 47 to take account of the light sensitivity of the printing paper. In addition, a switch 52 in the circuit of the printing lamp 3 is operated by a relay 51 of a time switch 48 which is actuated when the correct quantity of printing and additional light, which has penetrated the printing paper, has impinged on a photo-cell. This quantity is adjustable by a variable resistance 54. A common adjustment of the resistance 47, 54 is provided by a member 56 graduated in terms of the sensitivity of the printing paper.
