852,230. Magnetic tests. CKD BLANSKO ZAVODY JIRIHO DIMITROVA NARODNI PODNIK. Jan. 1, 1959 [Jan. 4, 1958], No. 110/59. Class 37 An apparatus for measuring the thickness of an oil film in a bearing comprises a detector having a ferromagnetic core 10 embedded in one part of the bearing, the flux path being closed through the oil film and the other part of the bearing. In the embodiment described, the core 10 has primary and secondary winding 11 and 12 respectively wound about it, and is embedded in the stationary part 15 of a bearing. The associated circuit comprises a voltage stabilizer 1, the a.c. output from which is fed via a transformer 2 and an adjusting resistor 3 to the primary winding 11 of the detector. The voltage from the secondary winding 12 is rectified and applied to a meter 8 which is directly calibrated in film thickness. In addition to, or in place of, the meter, a relay 9 may be connected to the circuit to close a signalling circuit or protective circuit to stop the machine, in case of a breakdown of the oil film.
