Class 98(2) Apparatus for continuously processing at least two strips of film of different widths comprises, arranged in sequence for the film feed-in end, a number of developing tanks arranged side by side, a separate developing tank being provided for each film, one .or more washing tanks arranged in series and common to all the film strips, of the upper and lower rollers for guiding. each film into and out of its associated developing tank and then into and out of the common fixing and washing tanks and means for driving at least some of the upper rollers to move the strips through the apparatus. The apparatus shown in Fig. 3 comprises developing tanks 1, 11 separated by a partition 111 (Fig. 4), a fixing tank 2 and washing tanks 3, 4, and two sets of upper rollers 7, 8, respectively of dimensions to guide a wide film and a narrow film through the tanks. The rollers 7, 8 are carried by spindles 71, 81 Fig. 4, driven respectively by shafts 15 driven either separately or together by a motor 18 to drive the film by friction. Each film passes over a driven roller and down into the tank to pass under a free roller 9, Fig. 4, and up to the next driven roller, the rollers 9 being pivoted on blocks 12 vertically slidable on bars 13 and carrying weights 911 to maintain the film taut. A cord secured to a block 12 may pass over a pulley and carry a weight at the other end to indicate the length of film in the apparatus. The films pass to a drier 20, Fig. 3, where they are fed bv a similar system of rollers through a vertical current of warm air provided by a fan 23.
