Abstract

850,293. Magnetic recording &c. apparatus. TOKYO DENKI KAGAKU KOGYO KABUSHIKI KAISHA. Jan. 24, 1957 [March 29, 1956 (2)], No. 36958/59. Divided out of 850,291. Drawings to Specification. Class 40 (2). A magnetic recording machine has heads mounted on a turntable, which is caused to advance such that the heads scan successive arcuate tracks on a fixed sheet record, and has a reversible motor and two alternatively engageable friction idler rollers, by means of which the turntable may be driven in either direction. The erase heads are mounted on a sub-frame with limited freedom of movement relative to the turntable such that an erase head always precedes a transducing head, regardless of the direction of rotation of the turntable. This enables (a) transducing of " mirror-image " records, such as can be produced by magnetic contact-printing; (b) transducing of " 2-on " superimposed recordings (i.e. " RH and " LH ") on the same record surface.
