Abstract
A coating for a welding electrode, having a ferrous core consists of in parts by weight 31-60 cellulose, 5-20 ferromanganese, 10-60 iron powder and 10-30 titania. Small quantities of iron oxide, white asbestos, silica or alloys such as ferromolybdenum may be added, and a bonding agent such as soluble alkali silicate may be used. The core wire may be mild or low alloy steel.
