Abstract
848,579. Agitating appliances. HAWLEY PRODUCTS Ltd. June 24, 1958 [Nov. 12, 1957], No. 35210/57. Class 86 [Also in Group V] An aqueous slurry for moulding fibrous articles is agitated in a conical container 1 having a flexible base 2 supported on reciprocable mechanism 4. The container has a flared opening 3b surrounded by a cylindrical neck 1a. Fibrous slurry is fed into the container through a pipe 5 controlled by a valve 5A and water is supplied by a pipe 6 until the slurry reaches a level A in the neck 1a. On reciprocation of the base 2, the slurry falls through the venturi 3 until a level B is reached and as the base 2 returns to its original position the liquid-fibre mixture rises. As the liquid level falls, fibrous material is drawn on to a form mould 7 by a vacuum system 8, 9, 10, 11, the valve 8 of this system being closed as the liquid returns to the higher level. Liquid and fibre drawn off by the vacuum system during each cycle are' replaced through the pipes 5, 6.
