Abstract
The inventions relates to: (a) a -benzyl-b -alkyl -N-trityl-g -alkyl-L-glutamyl-L-aspartates and their salts, and (b) b -alkyl-N-trityl-g -alkyl-L-glutamyl-L-aspartates and their salts, and (c) the D-isomers or racenates of either (a) or (b). They are made by condensing an a -benzyl-b -alkyl-aspartate with a g -alkyl-N-trityl glutamate to produce a substance (a) which is subjected to hydrogenolysis to produce (b), and the condensation may be in presence of an N.N1-disubstituted carbodimide, such as N. N1-dicyclohexylcarbodimide, (see Specification 820,789). In examples, b -methyl-a -benzyl-L-aspartate is condensed with monomethyl-N-trityl-L-glutamate in presence of N.N1-dicyclohexyl-carbodimide to give b -methyl-a -benzyl-N-trityl-g -methyl-L-glutamyl-L -aspartate, from which the benzyl group is split off by hydrogenolysis.
