Abstract

Purified intrinsic factor preparations are obtained by subjecting a concentrate of I.F. and a vitamin of the B12 group to a fractional precipitation with ammonium sulphate above a saturation of 55 per cent. The starting I.F. concentrate is entirely saturated with a vitamin of the B12 group and the vitamin does not occur in the free condition. Preferably the fractional precipitation is carried out within the limits of saturation 70 to 95 per cent, at a pH between 4.5 and 7 and in the temperature range 0-20 DEG C.
