Abstract

848,047. Transistor relay circuits. LEAR Inc. Feb. 3, 1959, No. 3716/59. Class 40(6). A time delay apparatus comprises a transistor associated with a time delay network which, upon switching on the apparatus, delays the build-up of transistor current, the current being used to operate a relay arranged, when operated, to provide itself with a holding circuit independent of the transistor and to restore the time delay circuit to its initial condition so that the operation can be reinitiated without delay. In the figure, the operation of contact 10 causes a capacitor 20 to charge through resistor 28 until the resulting bias applied to the transistor causes sufficient collector current to flow to operate a relay 30. Contact 36 thereupon provides a holding circuit for the relay and completes a discharge path for the capacitor. Compensation for changes in temperature may be effected by connecting a temperature dependant resistor in series with resistors 18 or 28.
