Abstract
A germicidal soap composition comprises a major proportion of soap and a minor proportion of a complex reaction product of a silver salt with a heterocyclic compound of the general formula: <PICT:0847257/III/1> wherein R1 is hydrogen or an alkyl group of 1-4 carbon atoms; R2, R3, R4 and R5 are hydrogen or methyl and R6 is either a linking bond or -CH2-. The preferred additive is the reaction product of silver chloride and ethylene thiourea. The compositions, which may be produced in bar, powder, cream, or liquid form, generally contain the silver complex in an amount of about 500 p.p.m. of silver. Specification 847,256 and 847,258 are referred to.ALSO:A germicidal composition comprises a major proportion of soap and a minor proportion of a complex reaction product of a silver salt with a heterocyclic compound of the general formula: <FORM:0847257/VI/1> wherein R1 is hydrogen or an alkyl group of 1-4 carbon atoms; R2, R3, R4, and R5 are hydrogen or methyl; and R6 is either a linking bond or -CH2-. The silver complex is generally incorporated in an amount of about 500 p.p.m. of silver, and may be the reaction product of silver chloride and ethylene thiourea.
