Abstract

The invention comprises 1:3:4:5:6:7:10:10-octahalogeno-4:7-endomethylene-4:7:8:9-tetra hydrophthalans in which the halogen atoms are chlorine or fluorine, at least one of the 1- or 3-halogen atoms being fluorine, and their preparation by reacting a 1:3-dichloro-4:5:6:7:10:10-hexahalogeno-4:7-endomethylene -tetrahydrophthalane with liquid hydrogen fluoride preferably in the presence of a fluorination catalyst such as 0,1%-10% by weight of silver fluoride or an antimony halide, at a temperature of 50 DEG -150 DEG C. more preferably at 100 DEG -120 DEG C. for a reaction time of 2-40 hours.
