Abstract
847,237. Moulding-machines. BIRMIDAL DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. Oct. 25, 1957 [July 25, 1956; Sept. 14, 1956], Nos. 22956/56 and 28109/56. Class 83 (1). A moulding-machine comprises a vertically - movable blowing - head above a fixed framework supporting a mould or core-box, said framework including means for effecting horizontal opening movement of the box, a finished - mould or core stripped from the box upon opening movement thereof being removed from the machine through an opening in the bottom of the framework. The blowhead-assembly 13 is vertically movable by a cylinder 26. Sand is fed from a hopper 25 to the blowhead 16 through a valve 20, Fig. 3, which is operated by a cylinder 23. The core-box 34, 35, is opened and closed by a double-acting piston as described in Specification 819,475, which is referred to, and the finished cores are removed therefrom by collecting means 14 comprising a cradle 36 vertically movable by a cylinder 40. A shoot 42 picks the core trom the cradle during its downward movement, and transfers it to conveying means 15. The operation of the controls for raising and lowering the blowhead-assembly, blowing, &c. may be performed by hand. Alternatively the operations may be performed automatically in a repeated or single-cycle operation, the control system incorporating timers so that when, e.g. shell-moulds are being made, the time the box remains closed, and therefore the curing time, may be predetermined. Specification 826,663 also is referred to.
