Abstract

A parting agent solution for use in moulding phenol-aldehyde and epoxy resins comprises 5-20% by weight of cellulose acetate butyrate, having a butyryl content of 15-30% by weight, and a solvent for the cellulose acetate butyrate. The solvent may comprise a major proportion by weight of a low-boiling solvent, e.g. acetone, a minor proportion of a high-boiling solvent, e.g. diacetone alcohol, and an intermediate proportion of a medium-boiling solvent, e.g. ethyl acetate. The solution may also contain one or more solvents selected from industrial methylated spirits, butyl alcohol, ethyl lactate, and toluene, and may also comprise up to 20% by weight of a metallic stearate, e.g. aluminium stearate. Specification 762,462 is referred to.ALSO:A parting agent solution for use in moulding phenol-aldehyde and epoxy resins comprises 5 to 20% by weight of cellulose acetate butyrate, having a butyryl content of 15 to 30% by weight and a solvent for the cellulose acetate butyrate. The solvent may comprise a major proportion by weight of a low boiling temperature solvent, e.g. acetone, a minor proportion of a high boiling temperature solvent, e.g. diacetone alcohol, and an intermediate proportion of a medium boiling temperature solvent, e.g. ethyl acetate. The solution may also contain one or more solvents selected from industrial methylated spirits, butyl alcohol, ethyl lactate, and toluene, and may also comprise up to 20% by weight of a metallic staerate such as aluminium stearate. The solution may be applied to a mould wall or lining and the solvent allowed to evaporate. Specification 762,462 is referred to.
