A holder c for drills and like rod-shaped tools is removably inserted in a container a having a lid b which is formed with a flange fitting into a recess in the container mouth. The bores d for the reception of the tools are fitted with elastic rings g which prevent undesirable movement of the tools and entry of foreign matter into the bores. and the lower part of the holder is formed with a recessed or reduced portion, see Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), to which a label may be applied. The space k defined by the container and the recessed or reduced portion of the holder is isolated from the space defined by the interior of the lid and the upper end of the holder, so that the label is protected from damage by swarf, oil and other foreign matter. The joint between the container and lid may be covered by a strip of adhesive tape h.
