Abstract

The vulcanisable compositions of the parent Specification are extruded to produce an article. One example relates to the extrusion through a 1 1/4 " extruder with temperatures of 70 DEG C. and 90 DEG C. on the barrel and die ( 1/4 " diam.) respectively and a screw speed of 40 r.p.m., of a vulcanisable composition containing 100 parts 95% isobutylene/5% isoprene copolymer, 10 parts isotactic polypropylene having a melt viscosity at 190 DEG C. of 104 poises, 20 parts medium processing channel black, 30 parts semi-reinforcing furnace black, and minor preparations of zinc oxide, petroleum jelly, tetramethyl thiuram disulphide, zinc diethyl dithiocarbamate, and sulphur.
