Abstract
An improvement in or modification of the process for extraction of oils from emulsions described in the parent Specification comprises passing the emulsion over a synthetic resin obtained by reacting a compound containing vinyl groups and heterocyclic nitrogen with a compound containing amino or imino groups and with a cross-linking agent. The resin may be obtained by preliminarily cross-linking polyethylene imine with a quantity of epichlorohydrin insufficient to effect complete cross-linking followed by an addition of vinyl-pyridine and of further epichlorohydrin. Alternatively it may be obtained by reacting vinyl-pyridine with polyethylene imine with the addition of epichlorohydrin, or by incorporating vinyl-pyridine by condensation in a polyethylene imine resin cross-linked with epichlorohydrin.
