Abstract

The invention comprises 6-nitro-2-dichloroacetylaminobenzthiazole, pharmaceutical preparations containing it (see Group VI), and its production by the action of a dichloroacetylating agent on 6-nitro-2-aminobenzthiazole. According to the Provisional Specification, the product may also be obtained by reacting 2-aminobenzthiazole with dichloroacetic acid or a reactive derivative thereof and nitrating the resulting 2-dichloroacetylaminobenzthiazole.ALSO:Pharmaceutical preparations, effective as antibacterial agents, consist of 6-nitro-2-dichloroacetylaminobenzthiazole and a solid or liquid carrier therefor. They may be administered by oral or perentaneous application or by injection.
