Abstract

844,150. Pneumatic tyres. FIRESTONE TIRE & RUBBER CO. Oct. 16, 1957, No. 40503/58. Divided out of 3774/56. Class 144 (2). A pneumatic tyre has a carcase of not more than two plies of rubberized parallel cord fabric, the individual cords of which are of twisted nylon filaments and have a denier of from 3360 to 7560, each said cord extending at a crown angle of from 28 to 38 degrees with the midcircumferential line A-A. Where two plies are used the respective cords 23, 24 of the plies are in summetrical crossed relation with the line A-A. The preferred cord denier is 5040 and the preferred cord angle is 32 degrees. Fig. 3 shows a cord comprising three twisted strands 11, 12, 13, each of two twisted filaments 14, 15 each of 840 denier, so that the cord denier is 5040.
