Abstract
843,911. Pressure exchangers. PEARSON, R. D., and HOOTON, G. E. June 25, 1956 [June 30, 1955], No. 37773/54. Class 8(1). In a pressure exchanger the high pressure scavenge stage Hi, Ho is preceded by prescavenging in which one cell port Ci is open to the high pressure scavenge inlet duct Hi and the other cell port Co of the same cell is open to a receiving duct CH receiving gas from the cell and returning at least some of it at another point CHi between the high and low pressure scavenging. A cell port Co leaving the high pressure outlet duct Ho opens to a receiving duct PLo which is connected to a duct PLi to which a cell port Ci is open when the cell port Co of the same cell opens to the low pressure outlet Lo. The cell outlet Co is gradually closed to the duct Lo by a reduction in the radial height of the latter after the point d. The station ducts are shaped to reduce undesirable wave reflection and to effect gradual closing of the duct Hi. Specifications 803,659, 843,912, 843,913 and 843,914 are referred to.
