Class 68(2) In a device for lifting a ship or the like on a platform 4, Fig. 2, to the level of a building slip by means of hydraulic lifts provided on the longitudinal sides of the platform, lifting parts, which in their bottom position reach to the level of the building slip, consist of pistons 9 carrying cross members 10 on which are disposed tie rods 7 which grip underneath the platform and the platform can be locked at the level of the building slip after having been lifted as by jacks 3 on a foundation bearing 1 engaging in recesses 5 in the platform. After the lifting operation, the parts projecting above the building slip can be lowered so that the upper part of the cross member 10 forms part of the building slip, connecting this to a runway on the platform 4, Fig. 7, on which the dolly supporting the ship runs. Cables 12 may be used to move the dolly or as an anchor in high winds.
