Abstract

842,360. Swash plate pumps. RECHERCHES ETUDES PRODUCTION R. E. P. Sept. 4, 1956 [Sept. 5, 1955], No. 27041/56. Class 102(1). In a swash-plate pump the pistons 9 are connected to a non-rotating plate 20 by connecting rods 22 having spherical ends fitting into shoes attached to the piston 9 and plate 20. The plate 20 is prevented from rotating by two rods 29 fixed at one end to a boss 28 on the plate and at the other end to spring loaded pistons housed in cylinders 32. Oscillation of the plate 20 is caused by rotating of a swashplate 15, mounted on driving shaft 14, having a surface 17 inclined to the axis of rotation and a surface 16 at right angles to the axis of rotation bearing against a surface of the housing 3. Liquid entering through inlet 4 to the chamber 5 is drawn through ports 8 in the cylinder walls and pumped past non-return valves 10 to the passage 11 and delivered through outlet 6. The connecting rod 22 has a central bore 42 which allows a small quantity of liquid to pass to recess 44 of the shoe 21 on the compression stroke of the piston. This liquid passes through conduits 45, between the surface 16 and the surface of ring 46, fixed to the housing wall 3, through concentric grooves 47, 48 and the circular groove 49 to the chamber 50 where it passes through outlet 51 and is returned to the reservoir. This liquid provides adequate lubrication of the parts and reduces the frictional forces between the surfaces. Specification 842,361 is referred to.
